In this article I will show you how to Synchronize Active Directory to SharePoint, including User Profile Photo.
You need to have the following:
- Windows Server
- Active Directory
- SharePoint Server 2013
- Administrative Rights
You can follow this article to Create a User with Photo in Active Directory.
Start User Profile Services
Open SharePoint Central Administration > Services > Ensure following services are started.
If they are not started, Please start them clicking the link.
Open Central Administration > Manage Service Application > User Profile Service Application
In the appearing page > Choose Configure Synchronization Connections
In the appearing page > choose Create New Connection
You can connect to multiple directory servies types like Active Directory, IBM Tivoli, Novel eDirectory etc. using this page. For the time being choose Active Directory.
In the appearing page enter the following details:
- Enter a name for connection
- Choose Type as Active Directory
- Enter full forest name
- Enter Administrator Credentials
Scroll down > Click the Populate Containers button > Choose Users tree
Click Ok button to save changes.
Wait for a few minutes & you can see the Profile being created.
Start Profile Synchronization
From the User Profile Service Application Page > Choose Start Profile Synchronization
In the appearing page below > Choose Start Full Synchronization
Click the Ok button to continue. Wait for few minutes & you can see the Profiles being synchronized.
Testing the Profile
For testing the newly created user > Choose User Profile Service Application > Manage User Profiles
In the appearing page enter the name of newly created user & click the Find button. You can see the profile being listed in the result.
This confirms our User Profile Synchronization.
